Commercial Manager

Dawson Levy are delighted to be working with it's client, a principle engineering contractor to recruit for a Commercial Manager based out of the West Midlands.

The successful applicant would likely be a hands on Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong history of working on full life cycle structural repair projects to include, bridges, culverts and gantries.

Job Purpose / Summary:

To provide effective commercial management and support across a variety of projects, including civils, structural concrete repair and rail.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To take ownership of the commercial aspects of multiple contracts:

Full project lifecycle from contract award through design, mobilisation, construction, completion, handover and final accounts.

Administration of contract delivery and management of costs: -

- cost and cashflow forecasting

- effective use of MCR's

- supply chain evaluation and procurement (material and labour)

- contract review and negotiation

- negotiation, management and administration of sub-contract accounts

- change management - drafting and issuing contractual notifications

- negotiation and agreement of compensation events

- production and agreement of final accounts

Supporting the Operations Team with sound commercial advicePricing projects at ECI or ESI stage

Line management and support, including mentoring of junior/assistant quantity surveyors as required

Knowledge & Experience:

A highly motivated self-starter, you will have:BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or equivalent qualification

Senior QS experience, gained from a civils contracting environment, working with NEC form of Contract

A good working knowledge of MS Office (minimum of Word and Excel)
