Our client is the global market leader in their innovative niche automated manufacturing sector and deliver solutions to customers in more than 50 countries around the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth for 2021, they are now seeking to recruit an articulate, customer focussed and technically capable Robot Software Support Engineer - Automation to complement their established and successful team.
Based in prestigious offices near Manchester and with an exhaustive and structured product portfolio training programme provided, the successful candidate will be tasked with delivering seamless and effective communication between both internal and external customers to ensure consistency, structured support and customer satisfaction at every step of the way.
The successful Software Support Engineer - Automation candidate will work alongside multiple project teams in the configuration of robotic systems to meet customer installation specifications, before travelling to customer sites to provide final set up and customer training at handover stages as required. Excellent communication skills at all levels are therefore essential for the position, as is the flexibility to travel as required (work can be undertaken remotely from home although invariably you will also be required to work in both Head Office and customer sites wherever they may be) so a current Driver's License, Passport and your own transport are also required for the position.
Once training on the product portfolio is complete, you will be tasked with (but not limited to)
- Writing, debugging and deploying code for integrating laboratory automation devices
- Configuring relational databases for laboratory scheduling software
- Interfacing with and training customers when on-site for deployment on anything from robotic arms to room-scale systems
- Deployment of laboratory automation solutions, software, and affiliated devices while working with various teams to troubleshoot field issues
- Executing FAT and SAT of robotics systems and contributing to associated documentation and the continuous improvement of the deployment processes.
To be considered for this exceptional varied and challenging software support engineer - automation opportunity, it is envisaged that you will be realistically qualified to Degree level or above in a relevant computer science or robotics engineering discipline, possess excellent customer facing and support skills and the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure along with a genuine passion for automation solutions.
You will essentially demonstrate a solid level of proficiency in C#, Java, Python or other Object-Oriented Languages with the ability to write tools and scripts to automate repetitive elements of the role, with experience in working with robotic arms and associated networking (TCP/IP) or serial communications proving distinctly advantageous.
