Technical Lead Manufacturing Engineer - Fabrication & Machining
Key responsibilities could include any, or a combination of, the following:
o Promote and maintain a healthy, safe and clean working environment at all times.
o Production & Project support as requested
o Support investigation of Concern / Problem resolution
o Responsible for agreement of critical significant characteristics and the creation of PFMEA and control plans
o Identify build issues/concerns and make relevant parties aware. Assist in finding solutions and follow all actions for resolution on Continuous Improvement tracking system
o Responsible for creation of production man-assignments aligned to manufacturing build requirements (as defined via Sales & Operations business plan)
o Study operations sequence, material flow, fixturing / tooling, process documents / statements with the aim of improving line balancing, throughput and efficient working procedures
o Responsible for draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.
o Responsible or creation / development and maintenance of Process Sheets from engineering released data (PCO).
o Publish clear and concise information including all aspect of Man / Method / Machine (tooling) / Material to manufacturing
o Identify and evaluate individual training needs for Primary operators and provide training plans to ensure that standardised processes are followed, and that safety and quality documented care-points are adhered to
o Responsible for co-ordinating "On the Job" training for new processes with manufacturing staff
o Perform time studies for all Product / Process / Component changes to ensure manufacturing's ability to achieve to required Quality / Cost / Deliver elements
o Perform periodic Process Audits to ensure products are being built to release Manufacturing Engineering information (Man / Method / Machine / Material)
o Responsible for implementation, control and closure of Deviations from standard production processes.
o Responsible for new tooling / fixtures design and development / specification for introduction into manufacturing environment
o Responsible for tooling, equipment & facilities specification, procurement, installation, commissioning
o Responsible for proving out new tooling and fixtures and provide constructive feedback.
o Responsible for maintenance of tooling & jig registers
o Support the build of cars during EP, VP, Pilot and SOP phases.
o Establish daily status (from VP stage onwards) of new project introductions with regards to the 4M requirements i.e. Man - Machine - Method - Material
o Responsible for population and maintenance of Station Readiness metrics.
o Responsible for Plan /Do / Check / Action all initiatives, tasks and agreed actions to ensure their full achievement to Launch Plan
o Adopt a positive approach to coaching and facilitation and supporting manufacturing supervision to help them successfully achieve the Launch Plan and its objectives.
o Responsible for estimation of production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control
o Responsible for production /engineering / projects with technical input / information pertinent to the areas of Body / Chassis / Trim and Final / Power-Train / Paint
o Provide key technical information for Gateway / Milestone reviews for Lead Engineer to present on behalf of Man. Eng.
o Become Manufacturing Engineering central point of contact with regards to technical knowledge and information (per defined area of expertise) for Engineering BICEP's to ensure that all aspects are aligned to overall project needs
o Where applicable, lead projects assigned to the Manufacturing Engineering department in order to deliver facilities / equipment / tooling and process for new model introductions
o Investigate and develop opportunities to embrace new technologies and innovations into the Lotus manufacturing environment to improve both efficiencies / cost and overall product quality
- BTEC/ NVQ in Engineering
- Previous manufacturing, production engineering knowledge,
- MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint & Project, use of process systems, logical thinker for problem solving and process planning.
- High level of Technical knowledge gained through time served within respective area of expertise (Body / Paint / Trim / Power-train / EEI Small Series "Bespoke" assembly operations)
- Out-going, pro-active team player. Self motivated & driven to succeed.
- Positive "can do attitude", eye for detail, methodical and measured approach
- HNC/ HND/ Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
- Lean thinking or six sigma trained
- MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project & Access. Lotus PPDM, PSS & DRF systems Autocad / Catia or other cad package
- Very good working knowledge of niche vehicle & OEM automotive industries
