Engineering Manager - Days only - £40,500 PA - Leyland 

The company

My client is a well established, successful manufacturing business who have a long list of household names as their clients.  They have constantly grown year on year and are now looking to hire an experienced supervisor / Engineering manager to bolster their engineering team and continually improve their processes.  

The Role 

To supervise / manage the day to day running of the engineering department which includes the care and maintenance of the production line machines, building maintenance, workshop and ancillary equipment, blending vessels.

Duties / Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the engineering department meets the production requirements of the business and that the production plan is met by regular monitoring to ensure any issues are identified and communicated quickly and effectively.

  • A hands-on approach is essential to help with all tasks where needed.

  • Actively look to improve production through new processes and ideas.

  • Ensure the workload is organised effectively and that all staff have clear and concise instructions.

  • Exchange information and communicate in an effective and professional manner with all departments within the business.

  • Attend the daily factory meeting and update this meeting on any issues that could affect production.

  • Ensure all company policies and approved codes of practice are followed by the engineering staff.

  • Ensure that all planned maintenance is carried out and recorded.

Key Skills:

  • Previous experience of FMCG processes.

  • Experience of people management and engineering improvements.

  • Computer literate with a preference to running Planned Preventative Maintenance software.

  • Experienced in training and developing staff and the upkeep of training records.

  • Experience in implementing standard operating procedures.

  • Good knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and health & safety.

  • Previous experience working with cosmetic products preferable.
