About the Role
Here are Babcock we are looking to recruit a Principal Engineer (Safety & Environmental).
E&M Submarine Design Group is a multi-disciplined team supporting the Maritime Support Delivery Framework contract (MSDF) with the production of A&A Guidance Information and Technical Specifications for the continuous upgrade of Royal Navy Submarines. E&M also provides support to the Submarine Business unit and its associated internal and external customers during Docking period's as well as In-service Submarine support (ISM) opportunities.
The Continual support of V & A Class submarines as well as the V Class replacement program means a year on year growth target in both physical size and depth of technical expertise to meet these ever growing demands.
Your responsibilities will include the planning and production of design drawings and associated documentation in support of Design Projects. Contribute to selection of best methodologies in the development of design & safety documentation. Production of design and safety and other technical documentation for the implementation of engineering projects as defined by line management to the required standards and timescales. Perform configuration management activities in accordance with contract arrangements. Develop sound knowledge of relevant design and safety documentation, strategy and associated drivers. Developing digital output products to improve the customer experience.
What do I need to do the role?
You should have an ONC with appropriate apprenticeship & experience in mechanical engineering preferably in a design or marine environment.
We would also like you to have experience in the following:
*Knowledge of relevant mechanical standards and systems
*Suitable experience in a mechanical engineering environment
*Understanding of the functions of major Submarine mechanical systems
*Able to make appropriate decisions, which may impact on others, based on an informed judgment
*Have safety awareness and full realisation of the importance of this culture
*Support the team to deliver excellent customer service to Time, Cost and Quality
*Experience of classification and regulatory requirements within a Maritime environment would be desirable
*Knowledge of 3D printing and Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality products and generation of specific content for these.
Lastly, you should hold or have the ability obtain full SC clearance.
