About the Role
The Design Engineer role is a key role within the new department, with involvement in a wide range of fleets across the company’s portfolio. You’ll be fundamental to this new team in the designing of retrofitting of systems onto trains for the UK.
You participate with train investigation in respect for the designing of the engineering retrofits to be carried out, whilst also carrying out condition assessments of components. You will be required to mitigate associated engineering risks related to safety and technical issues ensuring no additional risks are imported to the operational railway
As part of the Rolling Stock team, you’ll be reviewing technical designs and manage the integration of new systems and component onto current and new rolling stock. You’ll have the opportunity to work with customers, to understand the customer’s needs, and providing guidance where needed. You will be designing how the new systems will be implemented onto the trains. Although this role will be based in one of the offices in the UK, there may be some travel involved when meeting customers and visiting other sites.
- Experience of electrical designs associated with the implementation of new systems and components onto current rolling stock
- Experience with reverse engineering to find alternative suppliers for components, making use of limited information and drawings
- In-depth knowledge of Rolling Stock Maintenance techniques and procedures
Salary between £46k to £55k DOE, Annual bonus up to 20%, Company car or allowance to the value of £5400 per annum, 26 days holiday + BH, and a matched pension scheme!
