We are on the lookout for an ambitious Senior Transport Infrastructure Engineer to join our client's Transport Planning and Engineering team. You will primarily be delivering projects within the Southern region whilst also assisting the wider UK teams. You will work on a wide range of Transport and Engineering projects across various sectors. You will work from the early pre-planning stages right up to the end of the delivery phase. You will cover simple preliminary access designs up to 278 agreements. The main role is highway design, but it would be advantageous to have an understanding of drainage design. A large part of the role will require discussion and liaison with approval authorities and you would also be expected to assist more junior members of the team on technical matters.
You will already have prior highway & infrastructure experience a well as a recognised degree. You will ideally be chartered or have extensive experience in lieu of this. You will be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision as well as having strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will be able to obtain SC security clearance for government projects as well as either holding a CSCS card or being able to pass the CITB test in order to obtain one. You will have an understanding of H&S and CDM 2015 regulations. You will have S278 & S38 experience as well as knowledge of services arrangements within the highways. You will have a practical approach to time-management and the ability to switch between jobs at short notice. You will have experience using some or all of the following software: MS Office, Autocad Civils 3D/MXRoad, Microdrainage, and PDS. You will also have carried out some Earthworks modelling including material properties and the behaviour and limitations of common engineering materials and soil types.
Knowledge of the following would also be of interest:
- Design of foul and storm water piped sewerage systems.
- Sustainable drainage systems design experience including infiltration testing, soak away design, attenuation systems and flow throttling.
- S104 adoptable sewer designs and the approval processes.
- S106 sewer connection application procedures.
- Knowledge and awareness of the 1991 Land Drainage Act and 1991 Water Act and 2010 Flood and Water Management Act and the influence on the design and approval processes.
