Principal Design Engineer (Civil Infrastructure)
Full Time, Permanent

Calibre Search is working alongside an international Multi-Disciplinary Engineering consultancy whom are on the lookout for a Principal level Civil Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and client focused Civil Engineer to join a fast paced and lively Central Manchester Office and play a leading role in the design of some of the most exciting and prestigious civil engineering design projects in the UK and worldwide along with having the autonomy of leading your own projects.

Leading a team of specialist engineers and technicians, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will manage the delivery of technically excellent and profitable projects. You will develop new and nurture existing outstanding client relationships that maximise satisfaction and ensure repeaat business and will use your wealth of expertise and determination to manage, motivate and inspire less experienced engineers.

This Principal Civil Engineering position will entail working on major projects worldwide, projects such as A 10-storey office building and two residential buildings of 15 and 19-storeys. The base of the residential buildings will contain flexible retail uses, as well as rehearsal space for neighbouring cultural groups and bodies, education spaces and offices. Chengdu Creative Centre, Mildura Airport Terminal, The Brunel Building and Alkimos Beach. All projects which exceed £100million worth of project value.

  • Manage engineering designs in line with client brief and/or other project requirements
  • Review and provide feedback on designs produced by more junior staff
  • Monitor resourcing requirements for projects and provide feedback to Associates / Partners
  • Under the guidance of a more experienced manager, contribute to the day-to-day management and control of projects (including commercial and financial management, project management, and compliance with QA, environmental and health and safety procedures)

You will need to be accredited with a MEng degree (or equivalent) in Structural or Civil Engineering, you will have gained significant practical experience of structural engineering within a consultancy environment, and an accomplished level of relevant IT skills in structural design software including AutoCAD, PDS and Civil 3D.
