Our client is a processor of materials containing silver, gold and other PGM metals. The company’s specialist skills have targeted secondary or waste materials, especially the photographic industry - the largest user of silver; but also include other source streams.
Due to continued success the company is seeking to recruit an Engineering Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-regarded company.
AIM OF THE POST:
Management and development of the engineering team to ensure the plant, equipment and facilities at the company are maintained and operational to a safe and efficient standard.
This is to be achieved by effective preventative maintenance and process improvement projects alongside capital expenditure projects.
To work alongside and assist the SHE manager in ensuring compliance across the business.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks and develop the preventative maintenance system. Including the implementation and control maintenance request system. The company is introducing a new automated maintenance system for which this role will be the key lead.
Responsible for Health and Safety of the plant and equipment, being an active lead in the Health and Safety Committee.
Responsible for statutory and regulatory inspections.
Responsible for contractor control and permit to work system.
Complete appraisals and develop training matrix for engineering team identifying training requirements.
Conduct disciplinary procedures and personnel issues as they may arise within the team.
Respond to and eliminate re occurrence as far as possible to breakdown situations. Root cause analysis.
Investigate process improvement projects.
Work closely with the Operations Director to assist the business needs.
Liaise with office and factory staff as required.
Attention to detail will be essential, as will be the ability to communicate well with senior management and production personnel.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Ideally a multi-skilled background in electrical and mechanical engineering.
Relevant qualifications to suit both electrical and mechanical practices are required.
A background in heavy industry and or foundry type environment would be advantageous but not essential.
Experience in engineering management would be an advantage along with a track record of PPM systems.
Proven track record of managing teams of individuals, including performance management, training and disciplinary process.
A team player, but able to work on own initiative.
Be able to adhere to all health and safety.
