POSITION: Engineering Manager

SALARY: £70-80,000 PA (dependent upon experience)

BENEFITS: Company Pension, + Excellent Benefits Package

HOURS: 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday. You may be required to work such additional hours as may be necessary for the proper performance of your duties

Our client operates the largest onshore gas storage facility in the UK, a top tier COMAH site.

Due to continued success the company requires an Engineering Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to join a well-respected business.

Job Purpose:

Accountable for the ongoing suitability of the plant and equipment in terms of design, construction and operation across the Company’s Gas storage and Oil production facility, by ensuring up to date and relevant engineering standards are adhered to, and to guarantee safety and integrity of plant and equipment.

Principal Responsibilities (Not limited to):

Management of all existing plant, equipment and projects to ensure compliance against relevant engineering standards, Management System performance standards and legislative requirements.
Management of plant modifications through supervision of in-house personnel and/or engineering contractors. Managing their works to ensure all new plant, equipment and projects to ensure compliance against relevant engineering standards, Management System performance standards and legislative requirements.
Preparation and issue of all necessary monthly plant performance to indicate operation within permitted parameters.
Liaison with the Operations team to ensure plant faults are rectified within satisfactory period, safely, efficiently and in compliance with necessary regulations.
Manage the Maintenance Team during Maintenance Manager absences.
Verification and Audit of Maintenance team and systems to ensure compliance against legislative and company standards.
Facilitate upgrades to the Safety Management System associated with Engineering and design, ensuring updates are applicable and in line with any legislation change.
Manage direct/indirect reports, within Engineering and Projects Department.
Manage Engineering OPEX and CAPEX budgets.

Qualifications and Experience:

Engineering Degree level qualification, ideally in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
Chartered engineering membership at member level, or associate level, looking to attain full membership within a minimum period.
Excellent understanding of the engineering involved in oil production and gas storage operations.
Experienced in the integration of occupational and process safety management into operations.
At least 5 years’ experience in an engineering supervisory/management role, managing both teams of engineers and external contractors.
Experience working with budgets, including demonstrable involvement in budget control.
Ability to train team members in new skills and competencies.
Strong problem solving skills and decision making, whilst being pro-active in achieving positive results.
Experience of working in plant operations or interfacing with operations personnel through design in the energy industry.
Good leadership experience is essential.
