We’ve got a fantastic job for an electrically biased Multi Skilled Engineer to join our Worsley manufacturing site. Reporting to the Shift Manager - Engineering, you will work closely with the production team to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all preventative maintenance is conducted in advance to avoid production disruption.
The shift pattern for this job is 4 on 3 off, 3 on 4 off, working days and typically either Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed & Sun, Mon, Tues OR Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat & Thur, Fri, Sat.
Requirements of the Job
As a Multi Skilled Engineer, you will work collaboratively within the engineering team, providing support in investigating means of improving plant productivity and also investigating and establishing causes for all breakdowns and damages. You’ll action any repairs and ensure that all measures taken are recorded so recurrent faults can be recognised and you will be involved in electrical and mechanical proactive and re-active maintenance.

You’ll need to be qualified to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent, ONC mechanical/electrical engineering, BTEC level 3 in mechanical & electrical/electronic engineering) with a proven track record in an engineering and fault finding role gained from a FMCG environment (ideally the food industry). You’ll also have a good understanding of HACCP principles and ideally IEE qualification up to 17th edition writing regulations would be advantageous.

Worsley is a fast paced 24/7 site, working a continuous 4 shift system, producing a range of prepared vegetable and carbohydrate products such as Stir Fry packs, Roasting Veg Packs, Cooked pasta / noodles and Prepared ingredients for salad bars and cafes. The site is a chilled manufacturing site with an operating temperature below 8ºC.
It involves a low risk preparation area where all of the cutting and slicing is carried out, as well as a high care packing hall where the products are put into bags and punnets. We also grow our own beansprouts on a beansprout farm a few miles away from the main site.
