Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Our client is an established mechanical manufacturing with worldwide client base, you would be working at their site in Fareham as part of a skilled, friendly team.

We are looking for team players who like a personal feel, you would get to work with some experienced engineers in a production environment where your days are unlikely to be the same.

Our client offers excellent career opportunities, a good pension scheme, free parking, Salary is circa £30000 per annum depending on what experience you have already and what you can bring to the role of course.

Working arrangements for the Maintenance Engineering team are as follows:

Rotating shift pattern - 2 weeks Front Shift, 1-week Back Shift

Early shift 07:00 – 15:00 Monday to Friday

Late shift 13:45 – 22:30 Monday to Thursday, 13.45 – 18.15 Friday. Shift premium is payable when working late shift.

Engineers participate in a callout rota to provide weekend cover @ 9 weekends per year, Engineer (0600 -2200). Payment for being on call is included within base salary, with additional payments made if Engineer is required to attend site.

With regard to qualifications, this is very much a mechanically biased role so these capabilities are most critical. Having said that, most mechanical biased Engineers are able to tackle ‘basic’ electrical issues so this would be very helpful.


Experience in a mechanical or electro-mechanical maintenance role

Exposure to working within a manufacturing environment

Able to participate as part of the call out rota

Experience of site mechanical services/facilities including hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical

Computer literate

Some experience of mechanical diagnostics on machinery

Able to install pipework/machines

Your role would be predominately mechanical, looking after related engineering projects, diagnosing machine faults using diagnostic skills/drawings, maintaining all mechanical services and equipment to the relevant H&S requirements, assist the maintenance team in solving electrical / mechanical machine breakdown problems.

To ensure the testing of all safety systems and maintenance of the database.

Be an active member of the Maintenance Call-out Rota.

Work closely with contractors on key projects, advising as required.

To understand the maintenance PPM and breakdown system.
