CHIEF ENGINEER/ HEAD OF ENGINEERING AND MAINTENANCE

Job Summary

To manage and control the Engineering and Maintenance functions for the Company Operation.

To lead the Engineering and maintenance team to demonstrate through appropriate KPI’s improving reliability and efficiency of all production and facilities equipment. To drive a proactive preventative maintenance culture that minimises equipment breakdowns and maximizes machine uptime. Using technical knowledge to lead the continuous development initiatives to meet business and customer standards of leading world-class service and performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Manage and develop Managers and Engineers within the Engineering and Maintenance Function. Working with these managers to implement the Company's policies and goals.

Maintenance of a healthy and safe working environment, ensuring adherence to all Company and legislative requirements.

Fully accountable for Leading, motivating, coaching and developing Engineering and Maintenance team members with implementation of a strong succession plan through documented One to Ones, documented meetings, formal appraisals and personal training and development plans ensuring appropriate matrices are updated.

- Goal setting for the team to drive High Performance culture and world-class results.

- Responsible for all departmental communications.

- Responsible for ensuring all day to day people related tasks are fully documented and being carried on time and effectively e.g. return to work interviews etc – for direct reports and wider team

- Accountable for managing Employee Relations within the team in a timely and accurate manner including any disciplinary and grievance hearings and performance management.

- Accountable for control of holiday requests within own team, ensuring continuity of productivity at all times.

- Lead by example in terms of safety focus and commitment, building trust and relationships with teams.

- Teach and lead Risk Assessment and Abatement, ensuring all projects and changes have been properly assessed for risk to the organization (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness and Cost). Drive this into all levels of the organization.

- Ensure execution to capital plans to support strategic business objectives.

- Manage strategic initiatives, including assessment and understanding of asset life, look at the highest cost of maintenance support and replacement cost. Set the “wedge” for sustainable and not reactive maintenance programs.

- Develop talent to fill short and long term gaps within the engineering and maintenance organization, as well as for future roles in other parts of the business.

- Coordinate efforts across multiple facilities, collaborating with operations to ensure proper support.

- Set vision to support strategic objectives for engineering and maintenance in support of business, understanding the “big picture”

- Set standards of excellence as a customer service organization, internal and external

Other Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
* Chartered Engineer qualification
* Experience in the control of Engineering and Maintenance activities including permit systems and predictive/preventative maintenance systems.
* Recognised H&S Management Training.
* Demonstrable experience of managing people in a shift manufacturing/engineering environment including autonomous responsibility and accountability.
* Effective communicator at all levels including excellent written skills.
