Graduate Safety Engineer / Risk Management Consultant Dubai

We are seeking a recently graduated chemical engineer to work at our parent company’s office Risktec Solutions Ltd, Dubai UAE.

If successful you will be joining our team of British and multinational managers, principal engineers and project engineers at a long established office in Dubai and you will be working and training as a Graduate Safety Engineer / Risk Management Consultant for High/Major Hazard Industries on engineering projects in the Oil & Gas, Chemical and Rail.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic graduate Chemical Engineer (or similar) to work effectively and collaboratively within our Dubai office. You will support a range of existing and new projects within oil and gas, chemical and rail industries.  As part of the role you will gain experience supporting senior colleagues on project tasks and will develop a good understanding of the technical, engineering and operational issues fundamental to safety and risk management.


At the same time as gaining practical experience, Risktec will provide a structured training programme that will lead to recognised qualifications.  Risktec provides a university postgraduate education programme, delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University.  As part of the job you will be enrolled on the Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Risk and Safety Management, with the opportunity to progress to Master’s Degree (MSc) level. 

This will be completed via Distance Learning.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical safety support to senior colleagues and clients, working in areas such as;
    • Hazard identification (HAZID, HAZOP, Bowtie) workshops;
    • Consequence modelling (gas dispersion, heat radiation, jet fire / explosion modelling) using industry standard software and techniques;
    • Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) / Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination / verification;
    • Quantified Risk Assessment (QRA);
    • Input to formal technical reports, HSE Cases and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of standards, methods, data and use of appropriate software.


  • Qualifications and experience
    • Chemical Engineering (or similar) degree;
    • Highly computer literate; awareness of industry standard software packages would be advantageous;
    • Awareness of some of the technical safety studies listed above is desirable, as is the ability to interpret and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) and the supporting technical reports / data sheets, however training will be provided.
  • Personal qualities
    • Able to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently where needed;
    • Clear communication skills are essential, both verbal and written, and strong organisational skills and attention to detail both are critical in the work that we do.  Strong analytical and logical skills are essential;
    • Able to travel, often at short notice;
