The company :  A well-established system integration company specialising is the design; manufacture and commissioning of integrated control systems incorporating PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, variable speed drives, and instrumentation.

Job Title : Lead Project Engineer

The Lead Project Engineer (Senior Control Systems Engineers as known in the industry) will work alongside and support the Engineering Delivery Managers in all activities that fall into the area of control engineering.

Role Responsibilities

Project management, product selection and delegation of project tasks to the project engineers. The Lead Project Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of the project in both technical compliance and quality. Attending meetings with clients to discuss the design there is a requirement for good commercial and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar environment and good knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMI, variable speed drives and instrumentation products.

Duties include:

  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of engineers to get the best out of team
  • Preparing detailed outline specifications and aiding in project estimation
  • Writing detailed functional design specifications
  • Configuration of system architecture, network connections and interfaces primarily Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus and Modbus
  • Production of PLC software
  • Production of HMI / SCADA software
  • Site installation and commissioning which may involve periods away from home

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge Required:

Essential:

  • Software or Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • PLC Software Development (Allen Bradley PLC5/ SLC/ CLX, Siemens S7/ TIA Portal)
  • Strong water industry experience 
  • HMI / SCADA Configuration (Wonderware System Platform (SP), FTView, Iconics, ClearSCADA, WinCC)
  • Must be able to drive

Desirable:

  • Electrical design including EPlan or equivalent
  • Panel design, manufacture and electrical installation
  • VBA knowledge or equivalent
  • Profibus certification
  • LAN/ WAN network design and configuration
  • Excellent written and verbal skills is required
