Job Description

Start here. Grow here.

Are you ready to shape the future of water infrastructure?

We’re looking for a Principal Civil Engineer to join our growing Water Solutions team in London, St Albans, Croydon, or Basingstoke. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of Southern Water's £3.7 billion capital delivery programme, working on projects ranging from small rural sites to multi-million-pound schemes, covering both water and wastewater (Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure). The frameworks run for seven and five years, respectively, with the option to extend for an additional 5 years.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to two major frameworks as part of this investment:

  • Strategic Delivery Partner (SDP) Framework: Supporting our Tier 1 Contractor on Lot 1 (non-infrastructure water projects) and Lot 2 (non-infrastructure wastewater projects).
  • Low Complexity Delivery Route Lot 2 (Wastewater Infrastructure) Framework and Strategic Delivery Partner (SDP) Lot 3 Infrastructure Framework: Partnering exclusively with a Tier 1 contractor to deliver sustainable, high-quality water and wastewater solutions.

Working flexibly from Southern UK locations, you’ll visit client sites in and around Brighton and collaborate with teams across multi-year frameworks. As part of our thriving business, you’ll take on rewarding multi-disciplinary projects from inception to delivery, creating innovative solutions that enhance the environment and improve communities. By joining AECOM, you’ll be provided with a comprehensive benefit package, including competitive pay, highly rated healthcare, a company pension, and a Sharesave scheme!

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Oversee: Manage the delivery of complex tasks and projects, ensuring budget and project management. Lead the technical delivery on various projects, reviewing work produced by others to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Provide Expertise: Offer technical knowledge and expertise to the design team on all design stages, including feasibility studies, outline design, detailed designs, and preparing technical specifications.
  • Ensure Quality: Ensure design compliance with all applicable standards and regulations, providing technical expertise for interdisciplinary analytical studies.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with clients to develop scope, price proposals, and communicate project progress. Collaborate with our team of Engineers, Hydraulic Modellers, Environment Specialists, and Technical Specialists to solve problems and deliver benefits to the communities we serve.
  • Develop: Support the development of junior team members and undertake line management responsibilities.
