Construction Manager Job in Hong Kong - An Overview
An experienced TBM tunnelling Construction Manager is required to join a leading international contractor working on a number of major tunnelling contracts in Hong Kong. TBMs (Tunnel Boring Machines) are being used extensively to cut through Hong Kong granites, which are considered among the world's hardest. The geology of Hong Kong consists of a granite and quartz mixture with some volcanic rocks holding hard tuffs and lavas. This Construction Management job role offers an exciting and challenging project for any civil engineering professional with experience and expertise to offer in tunnelling.

Construction Manager Job Duties on Hong Kong Tunnelling Projects:
You will be responsible for a massive section of works on a major tunnelling project in Hong Kong.

Your role will include but not be limited to the following:

Liaison with client representatives
Management & co-ordination of works
Creation, management and roll out of method statements
Site safety & quality control
Liaising with Commercial Manager to ensure payment applications are correctly submitted
Liaise with Site Managers & General Foreman regarding labour matters
Supervision of subcontractors as appropriate
Input into resolving any design issues or required changes to programme as a result of soil conditions encountered
Tunnelling/TBM Construction Manager Experience and Qualifications Required
Suitable candidates will have a strong CV that shows directly relevant TBM, general tunnelling and civil engineering experience.
In addition a technical and professional understanding of the engineering principles underlying TBM use, tunnelling and of civil engineering in general is expected.
Ideal candidates will have gained extensive experience in a TBM environment with a civil engineering contractor or specialist tunnelling contractor
Applicants will need to have had some background experience of engineering design with a consulting engineer, perhaps gained while working to become Chartered although contracting/subcontracting tunelling experience on site is most important.
A civil engineering degree (BEng Batchelor of Engineering) or equivalent is strongly desired, and membership of one of the following professional bodies or equivalent is desirable: Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE) Fellowship of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE)
Extensive experience of tunnelling &/or civil engineering work in Hong Kong is desired although TBM / tunnelling experience gained anywhere in the world is more important
Experience of working on major MTR ( Mass Transit Rail Corporation construction ) or similar types of major / mega project contracts strongly desired.
