They are looking for an experienced Site Manager in Leicester on a temp - perm basis.

About the Role

The Civil Site Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of utility and civil engineering projects, ensuring that they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, project management, and regulatory compliance within the utilities and civil engineering sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to keep the project on track.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce strict safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all workers on the site.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and take corrective actions.
  • Ensure that all workers are trained in safety procedures and adhere to industry regulations.

Resource Management:

  • Allocate resources effectively, including labour, equipment, and materials, to meet project requirements.
  • Monitor resource usage and make adjustments to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Quality Control:

  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality throughout the project.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure that work meets the project specifications and industry standards.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide regular project updates and address any concerns or issues promptly.

Budget Management:

  • Monitor project expenses and ensure that they stay within the allocated budget.

Change Management:

  • Assess and manage changes in project scope, schedule, or budget.
  • Implement change orders when necessary and communicate impacts to all stakeholders.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, safety records, and financial documents.
  • Generate regular reports for management and clients detailing project status, milestones, and any deviations from the plan.

Problem Solving:

  • Identify potential challenges and proactively develop solutions to mitigate risks.

Address unforeseen issues that arise during construction and make quick decisions to keep the project on track.

Environmental Compliance:

  • Ensure that the project adheres to environmental regulations and guidelines.

About You

  • Jobs are countrywide - so must be willing to travel and stay away
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Civil AND OR Solar Experience - ESSENTIAL
  • Proven experience in utilities and civil engineering project management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Understanding of budgeting and cost control.
  • Must hold SSSTS / SMSTS
