Role - Commissioning Technician

Location - Cumbria 

Role Overview:

The Commissioning Technician will be a vital member of our team, reporting directly to the Commissioning Engineer. They will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful commissioning of projects, with a primary focus on safety, testing activities, documentation, and collaboration with various stakeholders. While not directly managing commissioning personnel, the Commissioning Technician will be integral to the efficient and safe execution of commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Leadership: Uphold the highest safety standards, serving as a role model for all safety practices, and actively promoting a proactive safety culture across all project aspects, including nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety.

  2. Testing Activities: Execute testing activities at all commissioning stages, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy in testing procedures.

  3. Documentation: Contribute to the production of comprehensive test documentation, adhering to project requirements and standards.

  4. Issue Management: Participate in the identification and implementation of Field Observation Books (FOBs) and Technical Queries (TQs), contributing to the resolution of commissioning-related issues.

  5. Third-Party Witnessing: Perform testing activities for third-party witnessing, ensuring transparency and compliance with project specifications.

  6. Temporary Commissioning Aids: Apply and remove Temporary Commissioning Aids as necessary to facilitate commissioning activities.

  7. Data Recording: Assist in recording supporting data in alignment with test requirements, maintaining accurate records throughout the commissioning process.

  8. Completions Management: Utilize completions management systems effectively to manage commissioning activities and ensure project milestones are met.

  9. Schedule Adherence: Demonstrate the ability to perform commissioning work within project schedules, optimizing efficiency and productivity.

  10. Collaboration: Participate in multi-discipline design reviews and collaborate closely with the engineering team to address commissioning-related considerations and challenges.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Time served or equivalent in an engineering discipline, such as piping or electrical discipline.
  • Preferably hold ONC or equivalent qualifications, or willingness to pursue such qualifications.
  • Demonstrable project commissioning experience, showcasing proficiency in executing commissioning activities effectively.

Security Clearance: The ability to obtain BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard), P4 pass, and any other client-specific security clearances is essential for this role.

Design Tools/Software Proficiency:

  • Experience with Go Completions software or similar completions management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite for documentation and communication purposes.
