Engineering Manager – Southampton - £55-66k + car allowance + Bonus

Overview:

My client seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their team in Southampton within the water industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and proven leadership skills, with a focus on customer satisfaction and delivering high-quality solutions. This role requires expertise in gearboxes, pumps, and valves, as well as a deep understanding of the water industry's challenges and requirements.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of managers and engineers to achieve excellence in their work.

Foster a culture of customer focus, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring their professional development and growth.

Effectively manage resources, workload distribution, and performance evaluation within the team.

Project and Product Management:

Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer needs and translate them into engineering requirements.

Define project goals, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with customer expectations.

Oversee the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.

Technical Expertise:

Utilize in-depth knowledge of gearboxes, pumps, valves, and other relevant equipment to drive technical excellence.

Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, resolving complex technical challenges as they arise.

Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.

Customer Focus:

Act as a primary point of contact for customers, understanding their needs and requirements.

Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify opportunities for product enhancement and innovation.

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, earning their trust and loyalty through exceptional service and solutions.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

Establish and enforce quality standards and best practices within the engineering team.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.

Implement robust testing and validation processes to verify the reliability and performance of engineering solutions.

Drive a culture of continuous improvement, where feedback and lessons learned are used to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Proven track record of leadership and team management, with a focus on customer satisfaction and results.

Strong technical background in gearboxes, pumps, valves, and related equipment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and stakeholders.

Knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices within the water industry.

Experience with project management methodologies and tools.

Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
