Location: Birmingham ( 1 day/week)

Pay Range/details: up to £90k plus benefits

Contract Type: Permanent Full-time

Our client, a global automotive technology startup are launching a groundbreaking new technology for the automotive industry – a high bandwidth active suspension system. The company is commercialising the worlds first proactive ride system to improve the quality of time in motion.

They are now looking for an experienced Controls Engineers to become an integral part of their mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of production grade actuator calibration routines to meet the manufacturing requirements of the actuator product and deploy into the manufacturing line.
  • Lead the development of real-time diagnostic algorithms actuator product to ensure a robust and safe product.
  • Use DFMEA, simulation, and experimentation to create fault test cases and develop real-time fault detection algorithms to identify the failure modes.
  • Maintain current codebase for the actuator product and develop new features.
  • Support the development of safety critical control algorithms to meet the requirements defined by the Systems team
  • Support the in-vehicle, rapid prototype controller development activities for internal and customer projects and manage control system requirements and test cases
  • Define the control system verification, including MiL unit and integration testing and HiL testing according to the ASPICE process
  • Support controller architecture and algorithm design reviews
  • Conduct root-cause investigations, data processing and analysis of results from simulations and vehicle testing cross functionally with the Systems, Software and Electric Motor Module teams

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in either Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Systems engineering
  • 2+years of experience in control algorithm development and dynamics
  • Engineering background in control theory and signal processing: linear system analysis, frequency response, optimal control techniques, state estimation, and digital signal processing
  • Understanding of system dynamics MiL (Model-in-Loop) and HiL (Hardware-in-Loop) testing experience
  • Strong knowledge of Chassis control
  • Adas Control systems knowledge
  • Experience with algorithm development using MATLAB and Simulink
  • Strong collaboration and communication Skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Energetic, self-motivated team player who excels in developing solutions for complex systems

Preferable Qualifications & Experience

  • Masters degree or PhD
  • Experience with vehicle testing and objective data collection
  • Controller calibration experience: proficient with Vector tools – CANape, CANalyzer
  • Experience with AUTOSAR software
  • Knowledge of ASPICE process
  • Safety critical systems experience – ISO26262
  • Experience with requirements management and associated tools – DOORS/Jama
