Quantity Surveyor - Role Summary
  
As a Quantity Surveyor for our client, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful financial delivery and completion of projects while minimising financial risks and adhering to commercial procedures. You will be responsible for the commercial management of either a large project or several smaller projects.

Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating with and reporting to the Regional Director/Manager and the Commercial Manager, supported by a Managing Quantity Surveyor.
  • Ensuring timely submission of relevant data for monitoring and analysing contract performance.
  • Liaising with Project Managers for commercial contract administration and keeping stakeholders informed of material events.
  • Assisting in preparing accurate draft sub-contracts or approving such drafts prepared by the Commercial Team.
  • Ensuring timely submission of main contract payment applications and subcontractor payments.
  • Participating in dispute avoidance and resolution.
  • Managing meetings related to project commercial management.
  
Quantity Surveyor – Requirements
  • Sound and comprehensive understanding of the construction industry and its stakeholders.
  • Proficient knowledge of measurement and valuation.
  • Good knowledge of standard forms of contract.
  • Ability to negotiate with clients/sub-contractors and draft sub-contracts.
  • Ability to produce accurate monthly cost and value reports and financial forecasts.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Awareness of dispute procedures.
  • Experience in risk assessments and valuation, value engineering, and dispute resolution.
  • Experience of working on live projects and final accounts.
  • Experience in procuring major works sub-contracts.
  • Professional membership of recognised institutes such as RICS (desirable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working in the water industry and familiarity with CEMAR and COINS (desirable).
