They develop automotive, marine, and industrial applications. They are seeking a Powertrain Calibration Engineer to join the team in Essex. 


Commutable from:  Brentwood, Southend-on-Sea, Chelmsford, London 

Salary:  Negotiable based on experience + Excellent Benefits including Pension, Healthcare and Bonus  


The Role 

The Powertrain Calibration Engineer will perform base engine calibration across multiple powertrains in a dyno environment and complete calibration in vehicle and on non-road machinery. 

The Powertrain Calibration Engineer will support aftersales teams on calibration updates and level upgrades and provide engineering reports with program status activity reports covering both technical deliverables and business performance. 

You will support recording and analyse test data using current analytical and product development IT tools relevant to engine software and control systems and additionally provide field calibration and engineering support both on and off site.  

The Powertrain Calibration Engineer will research alternatives and implement solutions to measure and meet customer-driven calibration and development objectives.  

You will participate in root cause failure analysis during the development process. The Calibration Engineer will find and recommend practical solutions for specific failure modes as related to calibration parameters, or calibration related engine and emissions systems performance. You will ensure adherence to all Health & Safety and Quality & Environmental policies that affect the relevant work areas. 


The Person  

The successful candidate for the role will possess a bachelor's level degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related degree (or equivalent proven experience). You will be well versed in diesel calibration, test, development, and systems engineering. 

The Powertrain Calibration Engineer will be highly skilled in software/electronic/electrical engineering and have demonstrable experience of CANBUS communications, fault finding and logging. 

It is essential that the Powertrain Calibration Engineer has experience in ECU simulation hardware/software and can demonstrate knowledge of Quality tools and techniques. 

You will be an experienced problem solver with core skills in reliability and robustness engineering and the ability to self-manage and work under pressure to deliver in an ever-changing and dynamic environment.  International travel is required for the role.
