Product Development Engineer

Offering £36,000 - £40,000 Basic Salary plus Great Benefits based in Goole, East Yorkshire.

Our client is an established manufacturing business based in Goole, East Yorkshire. Due to continued expansion, our client is recruiting a Product Development Engineer to join their NPD team. The Product Development Engineer will help drive our client’s ongoing product development program that underpins the future growth of their business.

The successful candidate will be capable of taking new designs from concept, through to prototyping, testing and launch into production while controlling technical data and problem-solving during the entire product lifecycle. The Product Development Engineer will formulate designs to a brief, develop concepts iteratively and undertake prototyping, testing, tooling and pre-production sampling to a stage where a product is ready for market.

Product Development Engineer  - Purpose

• Responsible for ensuring new products are introduced into manufacturing smoothly and timely.
• Create and maintain product 3D CAD and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
• Ensure all products comply with relevant Technical Standards.
• Perform product validation tests as required.
• Coordinate tooling projects with external suppliers.
• Implement and roll out technical/engineering change processes across all departments.
• Liaise with third party bodies to gain fire testing, technical performance and quality accreditations for products.
• Work closely with the Marketing Team to update all technical data for publication.
• Liaise with the commercial team to identify their requirements and incorporate relevant market feedback into any new or existing product designs.
• Identify new systems and processes to drive quality, efficiency and save costs.
• Communicate ideas and plans effectively and clearly with all stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, to standard and to budget.

Product Development Engineer - Skills & Experience

• An experienced Product Designer, proficient in SolidWorks or a similar CAD application.
• Bachelor’s degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial/Product Design (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of design for manufacturing principles, understanding manufacturing processes with a good level of commercial awareness.
• Knowledge of Plastic Injection Moulded part design/tooling/processing would be desirable.

The Product Development Engineer position is offering £36,000 - £40,000 basic salary plus benefits including 25 days holiday plus statutory. This is a full-time, permanent position, based onsite at their site in East Yorkshire.
