Our Client is a leading, international multidisciplinary consultancy for the built environment, specialising in building design and operation, environmental and sustainability consulting. Having been successfully trading for more than 40 years, they are looking to expand the Sustainability team for the Manchester office and are looking for a Principal Building Physics Engineer.

Location: Manchester City Centre

Salary:  £50,000 - £55,000 depending on experience and skills

Employment type: Permanent

Purpose of the Role:

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Building Physics Engineer to be involved in all aspects of building environmental and engineering modelling. You will play an integral part in the transformation of the built environment, positively impacting climate change, and leaving a legacy for future generations. You will apply innovative design strategies, energy-efficient technologies, and leading construction practices to create commercially viable and environmentally friendly buildings. Working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will design, analyse, report and document Sustainability & Building Physics projects as well as present to clients. You will work across a variety of sectors and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as we support the development of your professional skills.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of UK building services experience
  • Master's Degree in Building physics-related subjects such as Environmental Design Engineering, Modern Building Design, Sustainable building design etc; and Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, building architecture or similar
  • Knowledge and experience of sustainability and building physics, particularly to thermal comfort, passive design, compliance modelling and real operational energy assessments.
  • In depth-knowledge of dynamic simulation software, including advanced HVAC modelling is essential.
  • Familiar with Net Zero Carbon strategies and roadmaps.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail and presentation skills.
