This opportunity comes to market from an established name in British Manufacturing, the company has a strong 100+ year history in the UK and continues to invest and move forward. Over the last few years, they have expanded their facility, grown the engineering team, invested in next generation technology, and continued to pursue additional market share globally.

Joining them as an Engineering Team Leader you will lead, mentor and develop a team of mechanical design engineers to produce validated engineering design solutions, detail drawings and BOM’s. This is a 1st line management role leading a design team of 6 engineers and maintains a strong hands-on technical focus. The team are responsible for structural body design, hydraulics, electrical actuation/control systems and mechanism design for heavy duty machinery.

Further responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all designs comply with machinery regulations and supporting EN 1501 standards
  • Approve product change requests and allocate work within the team for completion
  • Work with homologation to determine any remedial activity required for product changes to comply with machinery regulations
  • Provide engineering design support to project activity as required
  • Ensure appropriate hazard/risk assessments and structural validation activities are conducted for all safety critical designs.
  • Create and manage team and individual workload plans ensuring your team successfully delivers work in line with agreed targets
  • Ensure your team are represented in all key business meetings
  • Support your teams personal and professional development by providing mentoring, coaching and training alongside regular 1 to 1’s.

They are seeking a experienced engineer with a strong technical background in Hydraulics, Electrical Actuation and mechanism design.  

To carry out this role they are seeking a degree educated engineer with a strong track record in the design and development of similar products such as machines, specialist vehicles or yellow goods. A strong knowledge of mechanism, hydraulic, electrical actuation and control system design is also key. As is an understanding of machinery regulations and EN 1501 requirements.

Proven man-management experience is desirable but they are also open to applications from those looking to progress who can demonstrate some previous leadership experience such as project, technical or team lead experience.
