Electrical Design Engineer

Heywood

Up To £46,000 DOE

40 hours per week 

The role is based in a busy department of Electrical, Mechanical and Software Designers. The department design vacuum metallizing solutions, from concept, to detail and this position would be involved in all aspects of design from an electrical perspective.

Main Responsibilities

Management:

  • Project management of all aspects of machine electrical design
  • Liaison with customers (internal and external) and suppliers

Design Work:

  • Ability to design and draw electrical control circuits (to relevant British & European regulations) on an electrical CAD package.
  • To select components and cables taking into account all circuit and environmental conditions.
  • Adherence to internal and regulatory electrical drawing system and standards.
  • Development of electrical drawings from new sheet through to red line updates of electrical drawings

Development:

  • Contributes ideas / innovation for continuous improvement on machine design.
  • Willing to develop existing skills.
  • Continuous self-appraisal of current and marketplace issues and applies this where relevant.

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years’ experience in an engineering / design office.
  • Experience in design and construction of electrical circuits and control panels.
  • Experienced in the use of control panel design within an Electrical CAD package (such as Promis-e, Zuken E3, RSWire, EPLAN)
  • Experience in the use of Zuken E3 package would be desirable.
  • Experience in the use of Promis-e package would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant British and European EN Regulations is essential.
  • Experience in using a SAP BOM system would be useful.
  • Experience of Siemens PLC programming or fault finding would be desirable.
  • Needs to be willing, able and available to travel on a worldwide basis.
  • Needs to be available for retrofit work on sites when applicable.
  • Detail design work to EN60204
  • Functional Safety ISO13849
  • Component and cable selection.

Experience is expected in one or more of the following:

  • Pneumatic systems.
  • Hydraulic systems.
  • Rotating machinery and variable frequency drives.
  • Experience of working on capital machinery would be desirable.
  • Vacuum system experience would be an advantage.

Education

  • HNC / HND or BEng. Electrical Engineering
  • Chartered membership would be an advantage.
