Engineering Manager

We have an Excellent opportunity for an Engineering Manager/Technical Manager to join a leading designer and manufacturer of lighting products used in a niche sector.

This company is expanding and progressing in a niche sector creating good career progression opportunities.

The Technical/Engineering Manager will be responsible for conducting research and development, project management and providing technical support and guidance, The Technical Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the design process from conception to completion, ensuring that the products meet the highest quality standard and ensuring that areas of responsibility are carried out quickly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities for the Engineering Manager position:

• To work closely with the commercial, sales, and operational teams, to deliver effective designs and installed solutions for customers to tight deadlines.
• To follow the NPD process and ensure design projects are delivered on time, liaising with the Production team to ensure NPD is Designed For Manufacture.
• To use interpersonal skills to work as an effective member of the team whilst being clearly focused on achieving planned deadlines.
• To demonstrate a clear knowledge of the design process and use problem solving skills to best effect.
• To follow the structured company quality procedure.

Experience and Skills Required:

• A BSc/BEng degree related to Product Design / Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferable.
• A minimum of 5 years lighting industry experience.
• Good experience in using 3D design packages (Solidworks experience is preferred)
• An understanding of Lighting Design (Relux experience is preferred).
• Must be an excellent face to face communicator.
• Telephone communication skills of a high standard.
• One of the keys to success is to develop professional relationships with decision makers and so the ability to ‘connect’ with people and build networks should come naturally.
