Senior Product Inspection Engineer

Working for a global manufacturing company at the Gillingham site, as Senior Product Inspection Engineer you will provide critical measurement expertise to support essential engineering activities, ranging from product performance validation to new product development. Working collaboratively with a dynamic team of Inspection Engineers and Technicians you'll be utilising advanced measurement technologies and facilities to contribute to the development of innovative technology aimed at achieving a carbon-free future.

About you

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in dimensional metrology or precision engineering, with a solid fundamental knowledge of measurement best practices. The role requires proficiency in using both manual and digital microscopes, as well as contact and optical 3D metrology equipment, such as Zygo and Taylor Hobson surface measurement instruments. Key responsibilities include interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications, ensuring meticulous attention to detail, and applying strong problem-solving skills. A good understanding of 5S and workplace organisation, along with solid IT skills, is essential.

You will be degree educated in an appropriate engineering discipline or have undertaken an apprenticeship and possess 5+ years' experience in a similar role. Familiarity with writing measurement programs for CMMs and Taylor Hobson Talyrond, practical experience with metrology software (preferably Polyworks), and knowledge of dimensional metrology and surface finish standards will be advantageous. Programming skills in Matlab and VBA, 3D CAD experience, and experience mentoring Apprentices or Junior Engineers are also desirable.
