Overview:

We are currently working with a new client who is keen to employ ex-military personnel. They are currently recruiting for a Field-based Service and Repair Engineer of medical devices. The role will include the maintenance of clinical products such as: examination and operating lights, medical gas pendants, surgeon control panels predominately in the Midlands but on occasion throughout the UK, predominantly in hospital operating theatre settings.

Working closely with other members of the Service team, this role will ensure efficient service and maintenance of existing/new/replacement medical equipment, ensuring work is conducted in a safe, organised, and professional manner, especially important in critical care environments.
 
The Field Service Engineer is expected to conduct routine service work on all Company and 3rd party installed equipment (often working with minimal supervision). This role will also provide support/expertise to the Installation Team as and when necessary, to meet the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver on-site scheduled PPM maintenance and servicing of equipment, supported by a Company maintenance contract.
  • Carry out commissioning and repair on all types of medical devices.
  • Perform diagnostic (intrusive) testing/fault diagnosis on all existing install base for medical device equipment and to carry out the necessary repairs/preventative maintenance, based on thorough assessment of existing install base equipment.
  • Carry out work instructions in a timely manner and adhere to Company procedures and comply with the relevant Health & Safety standards.
  • Carry out testing and commissioning on all Company products and 3rd party products (where necessary).
  • Conduct site surveys and be able to communicate with key stakeholders on a technical level, establishing individual site requirements.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and ensure this is processed and filed appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Complete/sign off relevant Do-Form for assets serviced and identify any faults/issues/parts needed and advise on any further remedial works. List any other issues flagged by the customer which may not be on current asset list.
  • Ensure Company vans are kept clean, tidy, and suitably stocked to effectively respond to customers and provide the best level of service.
  • Support the Installations Team on specific projects as and when necessary.
  • Develop knowledge and skills on equipment necessary to grow into the experienced engineer role and be more self-sufficient in the field.
  • Understand the Company’s obligation to quality and to apply the appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertinent to the role.
  • Understand the Company’s commitment to Health & Safety and ensure that policies, procedures, and safe methods of work are always followed to safeguard colleagues and customers.

Skills & Experience:

  • A skilled mechanical Engineer possessing the desire and capacity to learn quickly and to carry out tasks safely and effectively.
  • Good “fault-finding” skills with the ability to conduct diagnostic (intrusive) testing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of operating theatre architectural equipment and systems.
  • Possess a basic understanding of electronic systems for health and safety reasons.
  • Hold a full driving license (preferably clean).
  • Adopt a flexible approach with the desire to learn and take on new skills.
  • Willing to travel on a regular basis and work away from home at times.
