The below job description will outline this position of: Technical Support Engineer

Typically, this person will accurately identify engine spare parts for customer RFQs using engine build records and drawings. You will also answer technical enquiries for sales managers and customers.

Duties and responsibilities of the Technical Support Engineer:

  • Experience of process improvement & digitalisation projects
  • Good engineering knowledge of internal combustion engines and rotating equipment
  • Able to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong customer focus both for internal and external customers
  • Understanding of engineering change management
  • To be able to understand BOMs and specification manuals
  • Work with suppliers and purchasing to obtain new costs and create new supply chains
  • Work with engineering on technical queries, obsolescence, maintenance schedules
  • Awareness/ experience with aftermarket support
  • Comfortable talking to suppliers and customers
  • Experience of costing and creating a quote
  • Able to investigate and troubleshoot on RFQs/enquiries to find the correct answer
  • Knowledge of building costs up for quotations and completing margin reports
  • Responding to supplier technical queries (direct / indirect)
  • Responding to supply chain (purchasing) queries
  • Support and participation within the Customer Complaint system, where technical issues are involved 
  • Work with engineering on technical queries, obsolescence, maintenance schedules

Qualifications and requirement for the Technical Support Engineer:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree (university) or 8 years’ experience in related field
  • Full UK Driving Licence
