As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technological direction and innovation of our fintech services. You'll lead by example, designing and implementing high-quality solutions that meet the dynamic needs of our clients. Your expertise will not only influence projects but also contribute to the growth and development of our engineering team worldwide.

*Travelling to our offices and to our clients' is essential. You will need to be prepared to travel at least twice a week on average to our client's office in Cheadle, Manchester. There will be occasional travel to our office in Leicester also.  

Requirements

You will:

  • Drive the technical aspects of RFP/RFQ responses, working closely with the sales and business development teams to prepare compelling, comprehensive, and competitive proposals. Play a crucial role in pre-sales activities, including client presentations, technical solution demonstrations, and proof of concept oversight, to win new business and expand our footprint in the fintech space.
  • Lead the design and development of complex software solutions in the fintech sector, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, architectures, and roadmaps.
  • Champion best practices in software engineering, including Agile methodologies, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes, to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning. Provide technical leadership and career development advice to engineers.
  • Actively engage with clients to understand their business challenges and provide technical consultancy. Offer bespoke, value-added solutions that address their specific needs within the fintech landscape.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, adjusting strategies to maintain a competitive edge. Contribute to thought leadership through speaking engagements, publications, and professional networks.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in participating in business development activities, including RFP/RFQ preparation and pre-sales engagements. Ability to articulate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to develop innovative solutions that address complex business challenges.
  • Proven track record in the fintech sector.
  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles and architecture, particularly in designing scalable and resilient systems.
  • Expertise in a variety of programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#) and technology stacks.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and understanding of cloud architecture best practices.
  • Familiarity with blockchain, AI, and machine learning technologies as applied to fintech solutions is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Prior experience in a consulting or client-facing role is advantageous.
